Awkwafina is an American actor and performer who began her career with clever raps that tackled gender and ethnic identities from a the most comical of perspectives. Then she branched out into Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical path as a trumpeter. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was a child of Chinese immigrants as well as Koreans. Following her Jazz and classical training, she delved into hip-hop in her teen years. After concentrating on education, she was awarded a degree in journalism in college and a women's studies degree. Her focus shifted to music once she graduated. Following her viral success on the Internet the My Vag song My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually made its way onto the album she released, Yellow Ranger. The album also featured viral hits like the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$. This latter song was directly linked to Awkwafina's NYC guide to travel in 2015. guide. Her resume included both author and musician. Now she was looking for a new career path in acting. In addition to early television shows such as Girl Code and Tawk, she has also been featured in films like Neighbors2Storks as well as Bad Rap. The actress made headlines in 2018 with a few high profile films, including Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, in Fina We Trust in June of the year.
